I'm sure you know how dimmers work, but for those that don't it is basically a super fast switch turning the light on and off very quickly. And most LED bulbs will only dim to about 20-30% of there maximum.

What I've learned is, dimming range is based completely on the driver in the LED bulb. When I redid the house I'm in, I installed as much LED lighting as I could and the rest is halogen. What is funny with the bulbs that did the best. The bulbs made a bit of a difference but not close to an incandescent. I found that the dimmers made little to no difference. Note: I have done an array of testing over the past week with 3 different dimmers and 6 different bulbs. What I would like is a recommendation on the type of bulb (or what to look for in dimmable LEDs) and the type of dimmer switch? The end game is to get the LEDs to react more like the traditional dimmed bulb so that you can go from mood lighting to flood lighting. I understand that most new dimmers have an adjustable switch for the dimming range and I have tried setting these to low. To me when I have LEDs all the way at the lowest setting they are still at 60-70%. One thing that I haven't gotten down is the dimming range of the LED vs what I am used to with the incandescent lights. I am a big dimmer fan and would pretty much put a dimmer on any light switch.
